I took a break from thesising tonight to go watch a free screening of Little Miss Sunshine with Mark and Sara. It was such a good movie - Mark summed it up with "It's one of the only movies where you cry tears of sadness and laughter." I'd add awkwardness in there too, but it was a good awkwardness, the kind that works. Basically, it's about a little girl getting to live her dream of being in a big beauty pageant, a cocaine-snorting grandfather, a brother who's taken a vow of silence, a delusional dad, suicidal uncle, and relatively sane mom. And a VW bus. And - everything works. I felt a little bit like I did with Me, You and Everyone We Know - you leave the theatre feeling like you've seen something special.
And then on the way home, it started raining.
Unexpectedly.
It's been a good night... now back to the thesis!

Um, I happened to notice you linked to my blog on Technorati, which made my yellow mustard heart swell with glee, because I like attention :)
But seriously, I, of course, checked out your blog in return and I like it alot! AND you like Dinosaur Comics AND you are a grad student...like me! Yay for happy coincedences.
Well anyway, have a nice day.
Tai
So pleased that you got drenched. Getting completely drenched in a rain storm keeps us young. Ever notice that as we age, we always remember umbrellas, or drive cars, and remain in doors during the rain? And I'm so jealous that you are in the city where the independent film festivals are - SO envious.
the rain was a nice change, I hope it keep up all day today so that it will premanently cool things off.
We had an amazing thunderstorm here in Corunna - I stayed up watching it because when you have fields for miles its a great show! The movie does sound like a must see - but considering I barely get to the theatres that exist in the Windsor area - finding an independent film place may be somewhat of a difficult task!
Yellow Mustard Hearted Girl: I think part of the reason I linked to you in the first place is that anyone with such fine taste in internet comics deserves attention! Hooray for things that enable procrastination. Thanks for your add too!
Sharon - I'm pretty sure that the events of the last two weeks (well, last night and the baseball game) pretty much speak for me not ever remembering an umbrella. As long as there is a plastic bag around to keep lappy/cell dry, I'm happy as a drenched clam.
Kevin: I've had enough rain for one 24-hour period.
Paula: hi!
hey paula, I havent been talking to my friend from Corunna in a couple weeks, and well I never pay attention to the news, so I was just wondering if the plant down there is back up and running again after its little mishap that caused the shutdown.
Hey Kevbo,
Well - it depends on which plant mishab you mean! hahaha... I'm pretty sure I know which one you are referring to and if I am correct they have got things running again! I find it funny you know someone in Corunna - my family moved here within the last 3 years and there's not that many people to know in this area!!!
ya I forget the name. Each time I drive down there I totally forget about the plant being there (and well the huge freakin bump in the road at the intersection too).
But ya, I tend to call it Corona cause I just think that would be a better name, and cause I never knew of this place before, and I assumed that everone must be drunk for one reason or another.
JENNNNN!!!
LOL - I lot of people refer to it as Corona! I like to have fun and play along but add in that on payday Thursdays - our cheque is accompanied by a Corona. Sadly people believe me.
And there are TONS of plants here - but I think you mean NOVA Chemicals
yep, it was NOVA
wet t-shirt contest! wooo!
...just kidding.
i saw little miss sunshine last night, and i agree with your little description completely. everytime i leave the cumberland, i feel the exact same way. it's nice, but it sort of makes me want to cry a lot.
Whatever Jen, your picture has you guys all wet and shiny, that beats mine any day... jerk. Hurry up and finish your thesis so we can dance in the rain together and post pictures on the internet. That way we can use our picture blogging talents in one unified, unstoppable force.
